youngest sister of Filipino Grandmaster (GM) Mark Paragua has confirmed to
play in the inaugural Pineda-Santos-Camer (PSC) Rapid Chess tournament which
starts Sunday at the Ramon Magsaysay Cubao High School (RMCHS) in Cubao,
Quezon City. The 11 year-old Gem Hannah Callano-Paragua is fresh from
an outstanding performance in the recently concluded Milo Little Olympics
Chess Championships. |

Current Women's World Chess Champion GM Alexandra
Kosteniuk, has donated gifts and prizes for the chess femmes! Goddesschess is
sponsoring $190 worth of cash prizes for Challenge X chess femmes: two
prizes in the Open ($60; $40) and three prizes in the Reserve Section ($40; $30;
$20). Current Women's World Chess Champion GM Alexandra Kosteniuk
also generously donated many chess prizes, including books and CDs/DVDs, for the
female chessplayers.

Women's Chess Championship
St. Louis, Missouri
This year's U.S. WCC is being hosted by the beautiful Chess
Club and Scholastic Chess Center of St. Louis and offers the largest purse
yet for the participants. There are many side events/events leading up to
the competition itself, which features some new players not seen before in this
national competition. Goddesschess is against sponsoring its Fighting
Chess Award - this year it's $500 - and GM Susan Polgar has once again
agreed to repeat her role from 2008 as judge. The Award is to encourage
fighting chess in the tradition of the Polgar sisters. More.
