European Team Chess Championships (Updated November 13, 2007)
October 27 - November 7, 2007
Heraklion, Greece
I'm rather disappointed. No chess femmes are playing on any of the
"men's" teams, and no chess hommes are playing on any of the
"women's" teams. What is the world coming to, I ask
you? Here are the final
standings for the Women's Teams:

October 29, 2007:
I'm blogging
every now and then about the standings of the Women's part of the
championship. Anyway, here's a mini photogallery of Cuties and
Beauties from the 2007 European Team Chess Championships to feast your
eyeballs upon. There are a lot of beautiful people playing chess these
days - not all of them pictured here. All photos from the official
website.

Greater Boston Open
October 27-28, 2007
Kennedy Senior Center in Natick, Massachusetts, USA
Esther Epstein, who was prominent in US
chess in the early 1990's, won The Open Event (13 players). Way to
go, girl! In the Under 2200 Section (21 players), Katharine B. Gasser
finished in 13th place with 1.5 and Michelle Xueying finished in 14th
place with 1.5.

Guernsey
International Chess Festival
October 21 - 27, 2007
The
event (68 players) was won by GM T. Hillarp-Persson (SWE 2567), with
6.0/7. One chess femme participated in this event, the lovely
Sheila Dines (ENG 1901), who finished in 42nd place with 3.0. Is
Sheila really only 14? Geez, what are they feeding girls these
days?
