14th Open Belisce Metalis
February 22 - 25, 2007
Bizovac, Croatia
Official Website
IM Misa Pap (SER 2475) won the event with  6.0/7.  I'm not exactly certain, but I think these are all of the chess femmes who participated - but I may have omitted a few, and I may have included a man or two inadvertently because I'm not so familiar with Croatian men's and women's names - by the way, I do not know what some of those letters mean that are listed in front of the players' names:  (66) MK Andrija Nol (CRO 2140), 4.0; (80) I Jurica Srbis (CRO 2057); (84) MK Marina Videkovic (CRO 1924), 3.5; (88) I Matija Ostovic (CRO 1950); (98) I Tamara Jeger (CRO 1847), 3.5; (101) II Ivica Grbac (CRO 1995), 3.0; (112) I Andrija Babic (CRO 2011), 3.0; (127) II Ivica Horvatic (CRO 1919), 2.5; (129) Sara Jacimovic (BIH 1800), 2.5; (143) II Franja Vidalina (CRO 1974), 2.0; (147) WFM Gordana Sulc (CRO 2014), 2.0; (148) MK Andreja Sambolec (CRO 1914), 2.0; (152) I Sladana Mihajlovic (CRO 1821), 2.0; (156) II Manuela Tot (CRO 1716), 1.5; (161) IV Marina Marinovic (CRO 1618), 1.0; and (163) III Ivica Kroo (CRO 1831), 1.0.

The English translation button over at medchess.com doesn't give me the kind of translation I need, shoot!  Anyway, here are the final standings from what I gather is the big event (32 players).  By the way, nix the idea about showing cute little flags in place of a player's home country.  I don't recognize those flags. Geez!  So, here are the standings, minus country affiliation for the players.  Note: I have no idea what some of those letters mean in front of the players' names.  Where I could figure it out, I indicated GM, WGM, IM, WIM.
(1) GM Suat Atalik (2586), 7.0/9;  (4) IM Yelena Dembo (2469), 6.0; (9) IM Silvia Collas (2389), 5.0; (13) WIM Jana Krivec (2316), 5.0; (17) WGM Monica Calzetta (2352) (she was a player The Chief liked a lot, God rest his soul), 4.5; (20) FF Ljilja Dreljevic (2243), 4.0; (25) WIM Elena Titova-Boric (2281), 3.5; (26) WIM Paloma Guiterrez Castillo (2192), 3.5; (28) WIM Kristina Solic (2155), 3.0; (31) WIM Julia Lebel-Arias (1989), 2.5; and (32) Roberta Messina (1834), 2.0.

TWIC is telling me there was an 88-player Open A event too, but for the life of me I couldn't find it at the medchess website!  So, this report is from TWIC, which reported the top 33 players:  (1) g NIKCEVIC Nebojsa 2448 7.0/9; (19) mf FOISOR Sabina-Francesca 2342 5.5; (22( m FOISOR Cristina Adela 2399 5.5; (25) m FIERRO BAQUERO Martha L. 2339 5.0 (I've seen Fierro Baquero's name a lot lately); (28( gf LECONTE Maria 2377 5.0; (32) mf MULLER Anne 2188 5.0.
