FKB U.S. Women's Chess Championship)
Airapetian participated in the 2007 FKB U.S. Women's Chess Championship
and finished in 10th place with 0.5 (a really bad tournament for her). She was selected as a Wild Card entry to the 2008 Championship
based on her prior performances in other events - and she's a real sweet
heart too, from what I gather by comments I've read about her from other
chessplayers. The other players like being around her - being a
genuinely nice person does have benefits.

WM Esther EPSTEIN 2194
(Photo: Boston
Open, 2007)
Epstein is a two-time U.S. Women's Chess Champion, sharing the title in
1991 with Irina Levitina, and winning the title outright in 1997.
Epstein has continued to play chess intermittently as her schedule permits
(31 events since winning the U.S. Women's Champion title in 1997).
Her latest event was the 2008
Bermuda International in February, 2008, where she finished in 8th
place (out of 30 players), with 3.0/5. The winner of that event was
US GM Alexander Ivanov with 4.5/5, who is married to Epstein for over 20
years. They have two sons.
